From Cocaine. It has been a long journey but I am happy to be free from the madness of addiction.

I am in the process of weaning off the pain meds that I was prescribed for my chronic pain that is almost gone now that I've recovered from neck surgery. I still suffer a bit from the Fibromyalgia, but it's awesome to be able to move my neck now. I plan on using OTC meds to handle this. I have been on pain meds for slightly more than a year and I am so grateful that I opted for surgery bc it freed me from the worst part of the pain.

My plan is to be off pain meds by September. My shrink has offered me detox and sub but sub is not a path I want to take. I feel that bc I have a physical dependence and not an addiction to pain medications that I will be able to wean successfully.

Feels great to be celebrating 3 years from needles and coke.

I've also been cigarette free since April 4th...so 3 months there too.

3 years from cocaine? Awesome. But you are no where near being clean. You smoke pot, take pain pills that you are addicted too both mentally and physically. That's been apparent for a very long time. Until you start telling yourself the truth, you'll never be free.

Lisa where does Janet state she is 'CLEAN" she posted a milestone that obviously means something to her. Being a recovering coke addict and a chronic pain sufferer I alwayts related to Janet.

Janet states she is weaning off the pain meds which she is not abusing. She became addicted due to her back from what i understand.

Pot smoking? Never read about that. An occasional joint? or is she daily sitting in front of her television with an ounce and a bong.

Lisa if your recovery works where you cant have an occasional drink of jopint Etc? Thats you but I know many recovering addicts who can have that occasional drink or drug. I fully understand AA and to be 'Clean you must obstain from all mood altering meds but if your on pain meds and weaning with the help of your doctor in my mind your clean. JMO

We are all different and you sure ripped into Janet where she posted a milestone. Thats all a proud birthday,

Janet sounds like your doing great--The cigs man thats tough. Gain any weight?

In time Janet you will be free of all the poison. Please do not have a closed mind when it comes to suboxone.

Weaning off opiates is a tough thing to do. Suboxone with the right doctor may be a good choice for you, Janet I would try Weaning and going C/T but if you fail you should have a sub plan in place at least a month before you try to go c/t as depending where yopu live you may not find a good addiction specialist right away,

If your going to go C/T please do it witrh people around you as its dangerous. You should be working with the doctor who prescribes your pain meds. Is this person an addiction specialist? If not I would do my best to find an addiction specialist today. You need this type of support to have the best chance of kicking the pills. JMHO

AA do you go Janet? If not try it. You may like it. I forget if you have been in the program.

Again congrads on the the 3 yrs

Jeff

Sorry if I offended you Jeff, but I'll get over it.

Recovering addict does not mean an occasional drink or joint.

Why do you take things so personal? I made a comment. You do not have to agree with it. Then your response is a sarcastic one. This is whatg a child does when conmfronted or criticized. You get so defensive.

Offend me? Nothing you say offends me.

You have a right to your opinion. And I have a right to mine.,

You ever been addicted to coke? Do you live with chronic pain?

Janet posted a milestone and your response IMO certainly was not one of support.

This is a support group is it not Lisa?

Pot Smoking? Where did that come from. She is weaning off the pain meds. Is she doing something wrong? Maybe I missed something.

3 yrs of no coke and she quit smoking cigs. And now weaning off of opiates. Think she needs your support not some crack aboutr pot smoking.

Thats pretty impressive accomplishments.

Jeff

It is pretty standard that clean is clean, not just from one substance but from all mind altering drugs. Jeff you are the one goes into tirades if someone does not agree with you. It is what it is. smoking pot is getting high, not clean. i would think if a person told a dr that that you were a iv coke addict that the dr may want to use different methods of pain control other than narcotics or totally moniter someone using them, but a year of pain meds will cause a problem for anyone. we have all had our pain issues that started innocently enough and ended way out of control. I have seen many different recovery boards where a person took their normal dose of meds every day and never abused but still could not shake it very easily. there is the mental aspect of it also. the problem of this type of posting is that there seems to be no sensitivity to the people who have struggled with pain medication. and that was evident a few months ago. we were constantly told about the pain meds when we were staying clean a day at a time. so sorry if there is no big congrats in this post.

Clean is Clean who is disputing that?

Janet posted regarding a milestone. Its important to her. I made a comment about a response. Thats all.

Meant no disrespect to anybody tropical.

Have a good day--Jeff
