Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone can give me advice...I'm a 20 yr nightly smoker who just took a 3 month leave from work to quit. I'm dreading it because I quit for a year 10 years ago and still missed it. As I tend to isolate my inclination is to white knuckle it and do it alone, but I know I need professional help. My therapist wants me to do intensive outpatient, but I am worried about the cost. Also, aren't outpatient programs predicated on a live-in detox? Part of me would rather white knuckle it and go to free meetings than spend 10k or whatever it costs I would love to know if anyone here has had good luck with this route. If you had a good experience in the nyc area, I would be interested to know which one that is. Thanks in advance and best of luck to all of you wherever you are in recovery, Skaer | ||

Geez why don't you just go to NA...it is free!
white knuckling it makes you think that you have control over your addiction when you really know that your addiction has control over you and it is gonna pry those knuckles loose while you ain't looking but being in a program with other addicts that surrendered will keep you on point and take the stress off of those knuckles...so you can hold something else a book a cup of coffee a tennis racket etc. |
