my x (crack addict for over 20 years) supposedly went from a basically 24/7 4- 5 month binge of smoking to just nothing and is supposedly clean about 3 1/2 weeks .. any one think thats possible going from that much to nothing overnight and what chances if he did are there for him to stay clean ?? and is it mentally screwing him up more seems very cold , nasty etc...
also wants to and will start doing steroids (and viagra-so he can show off to his new bangs ) again soon to build up his mass that he lost while smoking isnt that a trigger ??? isnt any drug bad at this stage ..

there is no tapering when it comes to coke based drugs...the drug leaves your system within 4-5 days, so c/t is possible. I don't know about starting other drugs.

Yes it is possible.
He chances of staying clean is very very slim.
He would need treatment/therapy and also meetings.(optional)

You mention about being mentally screwed up.
If he had therapy/treatment he would learn what the drug does to he body the effects on the brain and why he acts and feels the way he does.
This would all be in his treatment and alot morer like anger- managment.

..i thought crack/cocaine was only phsycological dependent..i did,nt think you suffered physical withdrawals from it.?..Robbie..

Posted by: bumpsnomore February 27, 2006, 12:04 PM
Robbie, I suffered from flu-like symptoms, sore achy legs...but the main part was psychological.

Posted by: swtemolyn February 27, 2006, 12:09 PM
well he's not doing meetings or therapy he is to concerned with his psyicall appearence and woman to take time for that.. he is working , last i heard going to join the gym again he body builds gets ripped fast ..wants the steroids to .. also to concerned with his rock/porn star image to do meetings..

Posted by: fatherofone February 27, 2006, 12:12 PM
..Yeah i hear ya janet.Robbie..

Posted by: emilyajb February 27, 2006, 12:12 PM
Exactly what bumpsnomore says.

I also had bad kidney infection and when doing the detox i had acupunture in my ears and because of the infection the needles would fly out like a magnet.
It was strange.

Posted by: fatherofone February 27, 2006, 12:18 PM
..Em..thats mad in many points on the ears are there..4or 5 i can,t remember..i,ve had accupuncture but i don,t think it worked on me..i did,nt relax enough..Robbie..

Posted by: emilyajb February 27, 2006, 12:22 PM
I think it is five, i liked it but not at the beginning my ears would bleed because of the coke and bad toxins yuk

Posted by: swtemolyn February 27, 2006, 1:02 PM
also he all at once will be responsible for his rent, gas, electric, cable, phone, food etc.. everything he was getting for free from the state.. so a lot of added pressure to handle without meetings or therapy?? dont ya think..

Posted by: fatherofone February 27, 2006, 1:12 PM
Swtemolyn..Thats pressure for sure and taking steroids.(if he is or is going to.) can produce him to get angry feelings and outbursts aswell and angry people on steroids ain,t very nice people at the best of times..Robbie..

Posted by: emilyajb February 27, 2006, 1:14 PM
It is going to hard for him i would imagine he will only be able to keep it going like this for a certain amount of time before everything starts to colapse around him.

Posted by: swtemolyn February 27, 2006, 1:34 PM
i was with him once b4 when he was doing the steroids made him jumpy , restless, and nasty.. and he was doing coke while at the gym on top of it..his legs would twitch when he tried to sleep he had bad nightmares etc.. but when i mentioned this to him to remind him he said i know nothing about them so be quiet..i mentioned i saw it first hand but of course i was wrong..

he likes to blame his binginging on the holidays says becuse xmas etc is past he'll be fine ,,
yeah till october again......doesnt want to face what really makes him use..

..The addicts always right and everyone else is wrong and against them.?..(not in my book)..once the addict can admit to theirselve that they are an addict..then they,re halfway to helping themselves..when we look in the mirror when we,re in active addiction the mirror lies to us..the mirror tells us we don,t look to bad..the loved one or friend of the addict could tell us a whole different story..Robbie..

Posted by: swtemolyn February 27, 2006, 3:40 PM
what gets me also is when he was using daily even after the high he was so loving and always clingy and please dont leave me, hold me, sleep closer hold me etc.. im sorry to put you through this etc etc.. right up to the day he stopped then the first day he decides to be clean its a complete 180 i dont want to be with you i have no feelings for u im gonna date others etc.. very cruel & hurtful.. was it just the crack making him that way or is it the lack of crack that wont let his emotions out.. how do i know which person was the real one.. i still love him and have lots of issues to deal with due to him ..but this always eats at me.. was it all a lie ??? was it real feelings brought out by crack.. or are they that manipulative that when high they can think to be that way to keep us suckered in..???? any opinions ???? especially crack addiction specialist..

Posted by: fatherofone February 27, 2006, 4:04 PM
..To be honest with ya when i was using gave me false feelings..i,d say nice things to my girlfriend when i was high..things like..shes beautiful..theres no one like her..shes the best girlfriend i,ve ever been with and other stuff and then regret saying them when i was,nt high from it.because i was,nt in love with her no more and i loved the drug gave me euphoria and made me talk a lot of s***..i used to say them i think because of the guilt of me using it..i wanted to make her feel better about herself and about us..but when the crack was wearing off i,d snap at her and say horrible things to her lazy..tell her she was crap in bed.tell her she looked terrible and why would i wanna stay with her..but it was the comedown off the drug that was talking..i was forever apologising for wot i said..but she came to believe the nasty stuff i was saying to her..i know crack effects people in different ways when they use..paranoia..self confidence..self conscious..some talk non stop..others don,t say a want people around others prefer there own company smoking all depends on the person..but at the end of the gave me false feelings towards my at the time girlfriend/ex..Robbie...

Take it from me its possible to go cold turkey. I smoked freebase on a daily basis for 20 years. Spent 3 to 500 bucks a week on it. Then on my birthday 16 months ago i decided that its time to say bye bye to the demons. First 4 months were tough due to the urges and the dreams but now its all over. Im free finally. Oh by the way...i haven't had a cigarette in almost a month. Cold turkey too. Just cause i did it dont mean you could. It's worth a shot. Im 50 and i feel great.

PS. How come Roman Has no join date and is replying to an 8 yr old post?

It is very possible. I have quit cold turkey. Chances of relapse very high without treatment or even with. Something about the comedown does make people nasty. My man and I both had this problem when quitting. If you stick it out he may get less hostile. Not that withdrawal or post-acute withdrawal syndrome excuses his behavior, but it is nasty stuff.

As someone who has never joined any chat of any sort, who now wants any help I can get to get this sticky, nasty crack and powder out of my life -- I was grateful for people's replies to very old posts.
