Hi, I'm new here, but not new to the drug addicted child unfortunately. My daughter (22) has been addicted to some kind of drug since she was 16. We've tried therapy, out patient, in patient facilities, and nothing has even come close to working for her. In fact she thinks they're all "Worthless". She's lost her daughter recently, and has been on heroin for the last yr and a half. She's burned all bridges with family except for me. She's was living with her heroin addicted BF and his mother because she can't live with us anymore. She was put in jail 7 days ago for her 3rd theft violation. I went to see her on her 6th day of being in there ( I waited those days because I know she was going through detox in jail and I don't think I could have handled seeing her in that state). What I found was a mentally beat up child that was so scared. I broke my heart even though I didn't think there were any feelings left to break. She said she's glad she's in there, and that she was hoping to get caught so she would be forced to detox.
I guess I need some advise because I'm actually lost on what to do. She's asking me what she's going to do when she gets out. She SAYS she wants to get clean, but doesn't know how too do it alone. I feel like there's nothing I can do to help her. I've already provided the support and guidance and she threw it all away and spit on it... I'm not willing or able to financially support her anymore. But there's still this GUILT....

She doesn't have to get clean/sober alone. She can go to NA/AA like millions do.

If she wants help it's a close as the nearest meeting. And it's FREE.

All the best.
