I haven't posted here for quite a while. I announced my daughter's overdose death here a little over three years ago. She died while in rehab, in Mesa Arizona, many miles from me in South Carolina. She met some "friends" there who introduced her to heroin. She was on Xanax when I sent her there. I always wondered if I made the right decision sending her there because I was concerned she'd meet addicts who would teach her more (as if any other drug was more). My daughter's quest for the ultimate high was a compulsive thought for her. I found this out by reading her phone after her death. She was eighteen when she overdosed. Like I said, the officers returned her iPhone to me. I was able to conclusively prove (by her text messages) that she was buying her heroin from a certain person there. The officers used this evidence to prosecute him. He took a plea deal for drug distribution. He was only twenty-five then. He had no criminal record- but a drug dealer removed from the streets. I had kept up with him to see if he would violate his probation. Two days ago, he overdosed and died. The obituary posted many photos of him as a child, innocent before his addiction took hold. I felt so much compassion for this family even though he contributed to my daughter's death. Addiction sucks! I feel so hollow tonight. I am rambling because this just opened all the wounds. Thanks for listening tonight, all.

I am so sorry for the loss of your precious daughter. Sending hugs & healing thoughts your way. I know these are empty words from a stranger but all of who have lived with addiction know that our loved ones are also one bad decision away from disaster. I am so sorry

Sallyann, I have read your posts, though I have not posted. I've watched you support everyone so selflessly. I hope you are finding peace in the midst of your anguish. You never give up, and I hope I can find strength in the example you provide to all of us. God Bless!
