Well 88 days free of methadone. Boy how time flies. Methadone is just a memory for me. Seriously don't miss it at all. Once I got off of it I realized that mentally it did a number on me. I had outgrown my need for it. Now mind you I was forced to quit because my doctor retired. So I would still be on it today if not for that. So I am surprised that I feel just normal :). One thing that has helped me is I have no cravings and haven't for over ten years. Being on heroin sucked for me and I am grateful my journey has lead me here. I have no depression or paws from quitting methadone. I do suffer depression though and am under a doctors care. I also take medication for it. I was taking the methadone for pain so when I quit methadone my pain is just the same. I mean the methadone after years quit working on my pain I guess cause my pain is the same now except I am not on it. Maybe my taper eased me into accepting my pain. Who knows why but this has been an effortless transition. Reading others posts helps me so much. I am so grateful for this site. Anyways have a beautiful Saturday. Taking things one day at a time...........peace

Day 138 methadone free. Life is wonderful off of methadone. Not worrying about being sick daily is so nice. I literally am staying with this boArd to document my journey to help others that maybe aren't doing it conventionally like me. I don't fell comfortable in na or aa meetings. ( tried for twenty years) it took a lot of therapy for me to design a program that works for me. And it is working.:) plus it takes a toll going against the norm. Perhaps if I had learned this earlier I might of gave up methadone earlier. Plain and simple . Color therapy music cooking all have helped me stay focused on living a new life. What are you nervous about?? Your doing this and your gonna succeed. Take it one day at a time. Everyday leads to another and another. Then one day you realize things are okay.
