Hi,
I'm new to this and I'm hoping for some help. I've been seeing a wonderful man for almost a year. He is literally everything I've wanted in a man. He is also a recovering addict. One who happened to relapse and OD in our home 2 weeks ago. He swore it was a one time thing and that it wasn't habitual...well 3 days ago I figured out that that wasn't exactly the truth either. Today we got him into a detox center and he will be there for at least 5 days. I love him and I have no intention on giving up on him. I guess my question is...what do I do next? I have a few friends that are recovered and one says an inpatient program. Another says if he feels strong enough that regular NA meetings and support groups will help as well. I'm so confused and anxious. I'm relieved to know he is safe where he is now but what do I do to help support him when he gets out without overstepping or enabling his choices? I appreciate any help. Like I said, he's an amazing man and I want to make this work. I just need some outside advice. Thank you in advance | ||

just doing detox wont help .. its Heroin right? First he cant detox in 5 days only, 5 days in hospital will help hi get trough worst but then he will need something like methadone( i think methadone its the best for those who want to get off heroin and stay clean( I am currently on 35 mills , been on methadone for 4 years, first 2 years i used on top but not everyday sometimes i will go for weeks without using then i had 2 years straight clean) also it would be great if would accept help fro one of drugs programs like smart, na or any other organization that you have access to. For some of us is good to have therapist , to have somebody to talk to when cravings get strong ... its ongoing battle
