im 27 and have always been a very active person, i race motocross, farm, workout and am a construction laborer... I've always been full of energy before the pills and while in active addiction. I've gotten clean and relapsed more than i can count also been through all the steps...
my main problem is it is so hard for me when I'm clean to have any energy at all. it is why i have always relapsed, I'm so sluggish and low energy i don't even feel like myself i hate it and don't know what to do about it.. my life is always far better when I'm clean and working a program. But WHY CANT I GET MY ENERGY BACK????
DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM please help.

How long have you been clean this time around ? I know that when I detoxed in the past, my energy was so low that I could barely walk from room to room, and this went on for a few days...I know that everyone is different, but my guess is that the Real Energy ( not the fake stuff from the pills ) should return soon. you can also see your Doc and have some blood tests run, make sure that you're not dealing with any underlying causes..

All the best to you in your recovery, Let's Beat This Garbage Together !!

I went into detox and rehab in March 2017 and I stayed cleaned up until Saturday. I was able to push myself to go to work but no energy for much else so I guess I thought one pain pill wouldn't hurt to see. Instead of getting anything from it I feel even more drained ! I didn't like the feeling I had when I was using but I want my life back to normal WITHOUT the opium ! If any of you have any suggestions on food, herbs, or exercise that will get energy levels back up, please let us know ! You are not alone on feeling drained of energy !

Ive been reading recovery posts nonstop for the last couple weeks, and it seems like alot of folks are plagued with Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome ( PAWS )... everyone is different when it comes to dealing with this..... some folks get their energy back after 6 or 7 days....some claim to have dealt with anxiety and fatigue up to 6 months....Folks also recommend getting as much exercise as possible...I was one of the lucky ones, getting most of my energy back after 6 days....appetite took a few days longer...And as I posted before, not a bad idea to see a Doc and have some blood work done just to be sure...
All the Best to you my friend !!

Thank you. I think a lot of mine is stress plus not enough rest in general. My energy picks up in the evening but is sluggish in the hours of 8am 12 pm because I get up at 1 am to go to work and end up wanting to nap in the middle of the day. The Day Light savings time throws me for a loop not counting IOP classes ! Because of my schedule I don't have time to do the 12 steps as I want so I just want someone that's been where I've been to talk to where I don't feel like the counselor is listening for something faulty against you. Besides she doesn't seem to be helping us as she should for Intensive Outpatient . I just want to talk to someone period .

I can certainly relate to the need to talk....need to do the same myself...Im fortunate to have many friends in recovery.....Ive also lived long enough to know that if we try to isolate and keep what were going through some kind of secret, it's going to lead to a very lonely existence , a sure fire way to increase anxiety and welcome depression....how long can any of us last in those situations without picking up and using again ?
Keep talking my friend !
God Bless...
