Did I mention 34 days....lol. I'm not silly, but I am kinda of impressed with my self. I still have an entire RX hidden in the spare bedroom... that i would love to go in and take a couple so I could have rounded up the emotion and energy to go the our yearly work conference. But we both knew it wasn't an option. I never though i could get the this many days . I remember freaking out when I only had 20 left in my script. I don't think about them as much, but I definitely have triggers.. My husband was shaking a bottle of aleve the other day and I bout bit his head off..
I think I asked before but does anyone have any connection to on line NA sessions. I would like to maybe talk with someone that understands...my dear husband continues to tell me I'm not an addict just mentally dependent. Thank you everyone again...

I think your dear hubby is being over protective nan😂 In my opinion the addiction/dependant debate is a pointless one. Fact of the matter is, be it mentally or physically, which it will be both in virtually most, if not all cases, you needed them pills and now you don't. Why place so much emphasis on the terminology? Just accept it happened and you pushed through it? Time to move be on and get back on track surely?
And we'll flipping done for 34 days, think I'm a couple on, have actually stopped counting now, over a month and happy days, time to try and forget they ever had such a hold on me!!!!! Congratulations nan. Paul.

Lillian..while I wouldn't recomened it. Sometimes that mind set in beginning is so strong.... I had methadone and norcos in house when i kicked for awhile..and didn't think about it..because I was DEAD SET on being off methadone. I was being prescribed norcos for broken hand and then tooth pulled in first few months off. I TOLD doctor I didn't want and my history. "Well just in case" of course I didn't have to fill script..but did. Sold them..in hand out of hand and didn't phase me. Few years off any opiate/opioid I can say I could NOT do that now..or much longer then I did. My brain went backwards in that aspect I guess. But yeah I was still gambling doing I know. -nana what you said in other posts about what if this/that. Ibuprofen for things you mentioned...hope you are holding up..

I'm coming up on 60 Days on the 9th and whether you believe it or not the entire RX is still in the office. I won't lie and say I haven't been tempted but I don't want to go through those first 2 weeks again. I seen my Dr and told her what I was going through we are working on alternative to the pain management. 600 mg of Ibuprofen and lots of nights awake thinking about the things I missed out on ( a recent work conference to NOLA, because I wasn't able to get the RX filled)) it's ok if you don't believe me, but again, I'm not going through that hell again or like Pablo said, don't let it control me.
Everyday is a struggle, but if I have the will. I believe in me.

If you're not going to take them why are you hanging on to them?

Almost 60 days I think. That original thread was April 11.. I kind of feel like you are looking for me to fail. How many days without pain pills are you at Lillian? Maybe I'm just being sensitive, but I don't know why you keep bringing it up? Hope you are doing well. I just finished my consulting work and having a great day.

I'm new to this message board but not to recovering from drug and alcohol addiction.
Having any drug of choice around during early recovery is asking for trouble in my experience. I tell male addicts who are recovering and doing this, "If you sit in a barber chair long enough, pretty soon you will eventually get a haircut." In other words, get that "chair" out of your house.

I'm down to three hydrocodone pills per day and having lots of anxiety, stress, depression etc.
I am 88 years old and was told time after time by the prescribing Dr. that I had no problem and to continue to take the pills. Have been taking 6 per day for eight years for degenerative spine. My Dr. suddenly retired? Very strange, after those many years of treating me. I went to another Dr. in his practice and he is very mean to me. He thinks I'm a bad person, which may be true. Dumb at least to go on when in the back of my mind I knew all along that taking those pills was a mistake. I fear the day this new Dr. takes the remaining pills away. He is doing a procedure on my back called denervation. I know I'm much older than most but could anyone respond to me?

Posted before that I am old. 88. Dr. who prescribed hydrocodone suddenly retired. New Dr. is very rude. Have taken 6 hydrocodone pills per day for 8 or 9 years and new Dr. will give me only 3 per day. Lots of anxiety etc. and even though I may be older could use some advice. The day is coming when I will need to quit altogether and that strikes terror in my heart.

6 pills a day isn't that much but cutting back will cause anxiety and insomnia. Good news is your body will adjust in a few days. You may experience diarrhea or constipation but over the counter meds will help with that. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids and you may want to get some chamomile tea. It soothes the stomach and anxiety. You're going to be ok. Just give it some time. If you don't like your new doctor you can always get a different one. You hired him, he didn't hire you :-)
