I have a serious drinking problem since 2008. It is getting worse. I hide a bottle of Walmart rum in the back alley behind a utility box. I have been hiding this behavior from my family and attributing it to sleep apnea (which I do have).

This morning, I came back home (when my wife left for work) and drank 16 swallows of Walmart rum.

I am 50 years old. I feel like I am going to die.

How can I proceed?

Hi Scott. It sounds like you have a problem that has caused you to seek a solution. I found my solution in the program of AA, reab and other methods that in combination has helped me stay sober for the last 7 and half years. I had my first drunk at age 14 , my last at age 53 so it wasnt easy to get and stay sober but I am living proof it is possible. If you are open to advice then mine would be to seek help, become willing to try out programs that offer a solution and find what works for you. If you are interested in AA there are sites online that you can check out if you rather do that than attend a face to face meeting. Stepchat.com is one such site. Also you can pick up , order or download the big book of Alcoholic anonymous online. I have provided a link where you can read the AA book and also some daily readings...

I would love to see you post again and know how you are doing.
