There are many stages during the recovery process, which can begin with identifying an addiction problem and learning about the various treatment options available.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), part of the National Institutes of Health, has developed an online website entitled Seeking Drug Abuse Treatment: Know What to Ask to help individuals and families seeking addiction treatment ask the right questions before choosing a drug treatment program. The site lists five questions to ask when searching for a program and highlights the treatment components that research has shown are important for success.

Our Find Treatment section contains a broad range of recovery options to help visitors find the treatment that best suits their needs. These include: self evaluation, intervention services, detoxification, U.S. treatment locators, international treatment locators, mental health practitioners, nicotine treatment, online treatment, outdoor therapy, recovery coaching, retreats, sober housing, residential treatment centers and more.

To learn more about specific treatment options, visit our addiction medication, holistic approaches, programs and resources and residential treatment guides.
