Last night I wanted to go to a poetry reading,but had the wrong night so i was going to a speaker meeting. While walking there; I heard music ,which I followed. a free show. a blues band with a harmonica, my favorite. It was outside and people were dancing and drinking. in the past' before I knew I was sick; I drank whiskey while listening to this music. I wanted a shot-just one.(yeah right).Since my mind is sick and my disease so cunning' baffeleing and strong it tried to convince me to go next door and just get one 24 oz can of beer. I took a walk in the opposite direction. A friend called and I told her about the concert. She came down and we talked; she said play the tape through.
We danced and laughed and had fun without alcohol. I had re-inforcement ; another sober alcoholic. When I played the tape to the end it showed me the lonliness,depression and despair. I woke up this morning sober and without a hangover and am going to skid Row tonight to speak on a panel. I thank God for my friend who invited me along. -------------------- drink?
