A few months ago I made the decision to come off subutex for good after 9years and many relapses. But now clean for a year and its time to come off the subutex. Now matter how hard things get I'll never go back now to old ways. Which is how I know I'm ready to come off the subutex. I've reduced from 10ml till 2ml in last couple of months and have actually found it very easy up till now. Reducing from 2ml, I've found hard. I'm just getting stable on 2ml then I'm going to reduce very slow. There's no rush. And want little side effects as possible. This is my first blog on this matter and kind words from people can help me go a long way. Thanks for reading. Any suggestions and tips from others who have reduced from subutex will help.

Hello bearzcub and welcome to the forum! Sorry it's taken so long for a reply. it's usually pretty slow around here so I always check suboxforum. It's a lot more active than it is here but anyways, congrats on your progress so far, getting down to 2 mg is awesome and is also where I started to struggle a little with my taper but you can do it. I took pain pills for 3 or 4 years before finally getting on suboxone, and I took suboxone for 7 years. Today is one month suboxone free for me and I haven't had any withdraws or any cravings at all. I tapered from 8-16 mg a day down to .25 of a mg in a little over a year. Once I got down to 2mg it got a little tougher but taking your time and stabilizing at each drop is key. In my opinion as long as you're not going up in dosage then you're moving forward. Just stay positive and patient. I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any questions. Best of luck and God bless!
