Suboxone Taper That Works

I have been on 16 mg for 2 1/2 years and when diagnosed with small cell lung cancer I decided to get off due to the suboxone wasn't taking care of the pain and the amount of opiates that they had to give me to do so was way too much. Here is the taper that worked for me. I was taking 16 mg a day. I dropped down to 8 for 2 weeks, then to 4 mg for 1 week, 2 mg for 2 weeks, 1 mg for 1 week and then .5 for 1 week then nothing. I had to take a very small sliver of the .5 mg 1 time but all and all it was a piece of cake compared to withdrawal from opiates. I felt a little achy when I dropped down to 1 mg for about 3 days but that soon went away and I felt fine.
Good luck to those who are trying to taper and God bless.
As for the docs that prescribe this.......they need to tell their patients what the withdrawal is like when and if a patient decides to get off. I feel they are just using this as a money maker for themselves and not being honest with us.

dear cherb,
I am So thankful that you wrote about your experience on how to stop suboxone and what you experienced. Your right, the doctors DON'T tell you what you will go through physically and emotionally.
I too am on suboxone now going on two years this coming July 2015. I was formally on methadone maintenance for 15 years!!!! reason I stayed on it so long was because I was afraid to come off due to horror stories I heard, plus it also helped keep me balanced emotionally. People who aren't methadonians judge others who are on it and think they get high on it.
when I first started the program the dosage was too high and I"d keep nodding out. I didn't like that. I started at 90. at the end I was on 5 millegrams for many years and was too afraid to get off it. until one day we all found out they had to close the clinic. the hospital where the clinic was situtated on wanted us closed down. so I went from 5 to 0 and suffered immensely. so much so that I decided to go on suboxone to get thru the methadone withdrawal but found it too balanced me and before I know it, two years have already gone by and I'm still on it.
I've been on 4 mg for many months now and have tried dropping down to 2 mg but I couldnt' handle the extreme anxiety I felt going down. it triggered my bipolar and I got depressed.

I was going through a difficult time with my four adult chidlren, so my dr. thought it best for my interest not to do down to 2 mg then.
It is now two months later and I'm getting ready to drop again.
I will always follow your story being now you have it written down on how to taper off the 2m g. being the company who makes it dosen't offer anything lower. so you drop from 2 to 0.
I do NOT want to go through what I went through with the methadone.
I have been clean from drugs of any form for 15 yrs now and have no desire to drug again.
I've had enough time under my belt and I work on my spiritual life daily. It wasnt' an easy road to travel, but well worth the effort by all means.
how long do you have to keep slivering off pieces of the 2mg before you can totally stop it completely? did you feel weak afterwards and for how long approx?
are there certain supplement you took after you were finished with the sub?
I appreciate all of your input and find your post to be awesome help to those who are wanting to come off the sub but are afraid, like me.. thank you..
