Please Please Please heed some advice. If you are in the process of getting off pain pills or suboxone or just thinking about changing your life, please read this. My husband had a heat stroke and fell from a tree years ago. He broke lots of bones, shouldn't have survived, but thank God, he did. He was dependent on pain pills and was unhappy. He couldn't, or thought he couldn't, face the withdrawals, so he got on suboxone, two 8/2 strips a day. MISTAKE!!! He has been dependent on suboxone for 3 & 1/2 years. The doctors would have kept him on suboxone forever if he wanted, because of course, they get rich off of our problems. He recently quit suboxone cold turkey, no weaning down. It has been 31 days, and he is still going through hell. The withdrawals from suboxone are a million times worse than from pain pills. Just look it up on YouTube if you don't believe me. If you want to beat a pain pill or suboxone addiction, YOU CAN!!! It will Suck, not going to lie, but you will be bettering yourself. He has made it this far by taking Loperamide and Neurontin as needed. Yes anti-diarrheal med makes a huge difference in lessening withdrawals, look it up! (Maybe I can help someone else by passing that bit of information along, because the docs won't tell you.) It amazes me...the things a doctor won't tell you, like how suboxone causes worse withdrawals and contributes to other health problems like vitamin deficiency, high blood pressure, swelling in legs from water retention, extra pains that he never had before, depression and many more, all of which got better when my husband stopped suboxone. He not totally out of the woods yet but getting better everyday.
Please just THINK before you decide how to beat your addiction... do you want to trade addictions or be free of addiction? I wish everyone luck in your journey through recovery.

I was there, wasn't on quite as much for quite as long but made it through. Been over a year now sober and feel great. Agree that SubOX docs want you to be on it forever...And they only take cash in my town. What a sham.
I went to a detox center and suffered for 5 days, but felt decent the 6th day....He should be close to out of the woods. Every day will be a little better. He is almost there!

Wow that's impressive of your husband. I have to applaud his will power up to this point. I'm sure he's almost there, no turning back now. I used Subs for about a month and a half and tried to quit cold turkey. And first I thought it wasn't bad, but by the seventh day it was getting progressively worse! I swore off strips after that and unfortunately took norcos until I was sure the strips were out of my system. But here I am months later, still battling to get sober. |
