Hello - New to this forum. Wondering: is this discussion board for real? Is it a scam? I'm just worried about its authenticity. Would like a place to discuss, but want to know others' experiences before. Thank you.

Just posted this morning for the first time. I have read some very helpful comments on here. Not sure of your situation but would be glad to talk together on here. We can help each other. That what it is about. Everyone needs help. I sure the heck do. Only 4 days clean, but have a positive outlook on the future. Everyone has to start somewhere. By you coming to this forum you obviously want to talk about something.

Thank you for responding. I'm just worried about this being a marketing tool, not a real place for "just people". And worried about being tracked by the Web and then this being used to hurt me socially or professionally.
I've read a lot of the posts and they sound authentic, like real people wrote them (not a doctor wanting to sell a service). Thank you for responding. | ||

this site is not a scam, only people who have experienced the pain of both addiction and addiction withdraw'ls could describe what they have been through in such detail - i can say this because of my own experiences with addiction and recovery over many years-

That is the problem with discussion boards vs. face-to-face meetings.
In AA we tell the newcomers to stick with the winners. The long term sobriety oldtimers who are living their program. Those are who you want to follow. Separating out the wheat from the chaff on on-line forums is difficult, especially so for newcomers who are so hurt and confused and want only to hear some soothing words of kindness & wisdom. Wanting the world to be the way we want it to be is what got us here .. and the same thinking isn't going to get us better. Newcomers can get false hope, especially from other newcomers who are in truth groping in the dark themselves. I wish you the best. I've been coming here a long time. It's real.
