MY husband is an alcoholic and has been for many years he first started drinking as a teenager and now he is 51 years old and has been a daily drinker for the last 8 years...
he does not want to get help he is in denial and feels that there is nothing wrong with his lifestyle--can an alcoholic fully recover if and when they are ready to get the help..what kind of state would his liver be in after this many years of drinking...Daisy

Yes they can recover, and only a doctor can evaluate his medical condition. I suggest you rummage around on the Families/Partners forum as you may find some others just like you.

yes if he wants to, for himself and not for you. although I have to say the statistics aren't great but it is possible. Liver damage, kidney damage, the emotional and spiritual damage is just as devastating believe me.

Alcoholism is a spiritual disorder ( with genetic aspects)

While there is excellent Treatment, there is no cure.
Thru 12 step AA - on can achieve spiritual re-birth !
and stay clean and sober 1 day at a time.
