Hello All,
As an alcoholic in recovery, I'm no stranger to addiction as well as the effects of withdrawal. In the past 24 hours I've decided to go cold turkey from painkillers. This addiction crept up on me, as I imagine it does for many. I'm a little embarrassed and wounded by my behaviour but I've made the decision now and will stick to it. I won't go into how much I was taking. Let's just say it was enough to leave me with every symptom in the book. Over this past year I have struggled rebuilding my life after a long battle with alcoholism. Now I realise that my problem has nothing to do with alcohol. The reality, for me, is that, given the opportunity, I will abuse drugs if I can get away with it. Of course, there is no getting away from the end result. To make this period of illness more bearable and maybe even help others going through withdrawal, I have created a twitter account to document the journey.
